Heathrow airport is the busiest international airport in the UK, handling 58 million passengers on more than 420,000 flights a year, with over 95 airlines flying to more than 185 destinations worldwide. Situated 15 miles West from Central London, Healthrow Airport has 2 main runways and 4 terminals
- Terminal 1 : All domestic flights, most UK airline departures to Europe
- Terminal 2 : most non-UK carriers' flights to Europe and some long haul destinations
- Terminal 3 : the long haul terminal fro USA, South American, Asian airlines as well as most African carriers
- Terminal 4 : British Airways long haul and Concorde flights as well as British Airways flights to Amsterdam, Athens, Paris, Moscow and Tel Aviv.
Getting to Heathrow Airport
By Bus
The services arrive at the central Bus Station in the main airport. Pedestrian access to the terminals is well signposted.The National Express shuttle from London Victoria coach Station to Heathrow runs every 30 minutes from 07h30 until 23h30. This service runs 7 days a week all year round. One way ticket will cost £7, a return ticket £10. For children one way : £3.50 and £5 return. The journey will take up to 55 minutes.
The Airbus service links to Heathrow Terminals from many west London hotels, Kings Cross and Euston main line. Departures are every 20 to 30 minutes and the journey will take between 60 and 75 minutes. Tickets cost £7 one way and £10 return. The Airbus A2 service runs from 07h00 until 20h30 from King's Cross Station every 30 minutes. This service picks up at various hotels on its way to Terminals 1, 2 and 3 of Healthrow Airport. By Train
Heathrow Airport has two rail services from central London, in addition to the London Underground and the Heathrow Express train service from London Paddington station. By Tube, Heathrow is served by the Piccadilly Line on the London Underground. A Journey to central London take, on average, 50 to 60 minutes. The trains run every 5 minutes at peak times and every nine minute off-peak and weekends.
The first train to London leaves Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 at 0508 (0558 on Sundays) and the last a 2349 (2257 on Sundays). The first train from central London arrives at Terminal 4 at 0600 (0747 Sundays) and the last at 0107 (0008 Sundays). It takes a further five minutes to reach the Terminals 1, 2 and 3 station. As these times are subject to change it is advisable to check with London Transport before travelling.
By Taxi
London black cabs are licensed under, and regulated by the Metropolitan Public Caraige Act to operate within the Greater London Metropolitan Area. BAA Heathrow operates a computer system that controls the flow of cabs from a large holding area on the airport to the terminal forecourts to ensure that the supply of cabs meets customer demand.
